Laura Martinez told Friedman residents about herself and the steps she took in training to become a professional chef.

We learned about Laura's strategies to overcome obstacles in the kitchen as a blind cook, followed by a Q&A session.

Laura attends the Le Cordon Bleu culinary program at the Cooking and Hospitality Institute of Chicago and interns in the kitchen of the Chicago Lighthouse. She graduates later this month, and has been offered a position by famed chef Charlie Trotter.

Laura was recently featured in a Chicago Tribune article, and has plans to open her own restaurant one day.
